Cool off in the Fountains at Olympic Park

Cool off in the Fountains at Olympic Park

How much is it? Free

What age is it suitable for? Any

Where is it? Stratford

Summer in London can range from idyllically woozy through to horribly oppressive, and it can be hard to find activities that let you cool off (especially free ones), but the Olympic Park offers from great ways to play, cool off, and enjoy the sunshine with your little ones.

The Waterworks Fountains are filled with laughing, whooping, and giggling children through a lot of summer. They're near the London Aquatic Centre and under the shadow of the ArcelorMittal Orbit. You can get there via Stratford underground station or, if you fancy a bit of a walk along the tow paths, Hackney Wick overground.

It's a great destination by itself, surrounded by plenty of other playgrounds as part of the overall Olympic Park development. Or you can turn it into a full day out with a swim in the London Aquatic Centre pool (which is owned/managed by Better and you can book your place on the app), and perhaps a sundae from the ice cream stand nearby or some lunch and shopping at Westfield Stratford.

There aren't changing or baby facilities at the fountains or playgrounds themselves, but there are some great facilities and a family room at Westfield Stratford, as well as a series of restaurants and cafes that you can dip into.
